The Project
My fiancé and I are working on the project of making a wolf fullsuit. It should be wearable for days, to go on a Live Action Role Play (LARP). But we want to do it with different Addons, like stilts and when its possible Anmiatronics inside.
This is the second step of a little photo-walkthrough making the claws for my manwolf.
Materials
The claws from the first step, latex and Isoflex (Top Coat)
Black Base (image 1-3)
I fixed the claws on a place where the floor could become dirty and where they could hang free. I took Q-tips to bring the black colored latex on the foam pieces. I looked forward not to take to mutch latex, that it will flow down and make some drops at the end of the talons.
Once this happend. Then I took the little scissors to cut the drop and made a new layer of latex to cover the edges.
3-4 base Layers of black Latex should be enough.
Grey Highlights (image 4-7)
When the black latex was dry I took a part of the still wet latex on my colour palette and added some white acrylic colour. Then I took a littlebit of foam to spot it on the higher places. A clean piece of foam spotted at the same places helped to make it look more smooth.
Just black looks flat and unreal. This highlights helped a lot to bring out the form.
Top Coat (image 8-10)
The last step in this step of building was a top coat. I used Isoflex. Be careful with it, it´s a damn glueing thing, glueing everything. I used latex gloves while working with it.
I used Q-tips again to bring it on the claws, every brush would be killed by using it with Isoflex. It was okay with Q-tips, but I think a cheep brush would have been a little bit better.
The Isoflex protects the latex and brings out the contrasts. It looks a bit wet now, but thats okay.
Coming Up
Using a bit of silicone spray and bringing on the Fur.
